How 20 answers become an IQ range
We place your score on the standard IQ scale, where the average is 100 and the standard deviation is 15, using this test's norm. Twenty questions can't support one exact number, so we report a range about 16 to 20 points wide. The norm is this test's own, not a general population norm, and this is not a clinical test.
Current norm: provisional, based on the planned difficulty of each question. First recalibration at 300 completed tests.

Are online IQ tests even accurate?
Ours gives an estimate, shown as a range, because 20 questions can't pin your IQ to one exact number. The methodology page shows how the range is calculated, how many people it's based on, and what it can't tell you. More answers in the FAQ
Why do I need to enter my email?
We send your result and your report link there, so you can come back from any device. We may also send a few follow-up emails about your result, and where the law requires it we ask first. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and our newsletter is a separate box that starts unticked. More answers in the FAQ
What if I don't like the report?
Ask for a refund within 14 days, from your account or by email, and you get the full amount back. We won't ask why. Refunds usually reach your card in 5 to 10 business days. More answers in the FAQ
Will you sell my data or share my score?
We don't sell your personal information for money, and your answers and results never go to advertisers. You can ask us to delete everything at any time. More answers in the FAQ
